The Choir

Emmanuel has maintained a strong choral tradition ever since the church was consecrated in 1898 and a very capable mixed choir leads the worship in singing at the 10.30 Sunday morning service including musical settings of the Common Worship Communion services.   The 6.30 Evening services use mostly The Book of Common Prayer, and each month usually includes a sung Communion and two Choral Evensongs with anthems and choral settings of the canticles.

There are occasional special services such as the Advent Service of Light, and the Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols in the candlelit church (this year on Sunday evening 22nd December at 6.30) has always been a special feature of the celebration of Christmas at Emmanuel.

The choir has excellent rehearsal facilities and the choral services are accompanied on a very fine Harrison pipe organ.

Applications are always welcomed from singers wishing to join the choir in all sections and we are at present especially seeking to recruit one or two more to the Soprano line.

If you are interested in joining our very friendly group please contact the Organist and Choirmaster Dr. Brian Hodge (01705 564657) who will be delighted to tell you more about us.
